Tart is a Cape Town, South Africa based ladies fashion line, established in 2001 by designer Cari Stephenson. Tart endeavors to create beautiful pieces for women who lead active lives, with easy to slip into pieces in bold prints and colors. Quality, style, and affordability are key factors to Tart clothing, which aims to create pieces that will become a staple in a woman’s closet. The clothes are sourced and produced locally in South Africa, lending Tart an earth-friendly vibe. Cari takes inspiration for Tart’s clothing from her favorite things including color, 70s-90s pop culture, and the feel of sumptuous fabrics. In 2012, Solange Knowles wore Tart on the cover of the November issue of South African Elle Magazine. Knowles embodies the idea of the Tart woman: independent, and adventurous while remaining true to her heritage.
