Ally Angula founded Leap Holdings, the parent company of My Republik in 2013, with the larger goal of establishing a complete supply chain to create clothing from field to factory to store all within Namibia. In 2014, the My Republik brand was launched, becoming the first Namibian commercial clothing brand of its kind. The entire brand is designed, developed, cut, trimmed, and sewn in Namibia by a group of women. Head designer, Twapewa Amutenya, with assistants Naomi Nambinga and Hertha Hango, design all the garments. Together these women have lead My Republik to its well-deserved success. Customers of My Republik are referred to as ‘citizens’ and each citizen can enjoy in-store styling provided at the Grove Mall store in Windhoek. My Republik was announced best woman-owned business at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit GSE 2015. In late 2015 the company opened a manufacturing factory in Witvlei, expanding to 100 employees and offering job opportunities in an otherwise unemployed area. My Republik is currently adding new retail locations with plans to add branches across southern Africa including South Africa, Botswana and Zambia.
“With the opening of the bigger production facility in Witvlei, I call on you to become part of the journey of crafting and building a greater future for Namibia,” – Ally Angula
